Got a great deal on betty crocker fruit snacks 3/08/11.
Safeway had a deal-buy 4 or more and they were only .99 each.
For every 5 boxes you bought, Safeway would give you $3 on your next purchase.
Coupon sites like thecouponclippers.com sell coupons at a tiny price-which is how i got 20 fruit snack coupons. One coupon was for $1.00/3 and the other .50/2.
So here's how you get the deal! Set up stacks of 5 boxes with dividers in between each set. (Don't be rude and take up too much time-if there is a line go to the end after a few transactions.) I usually limit myself to 3 or 4 transactions in a row.
Purchase#1
Buy 5 at .99 each for a total of $4.95. Use a coupon for each box. In this first transaction i used a coupon that was save $1.00/3 and $.50/2. The total minus coupons comes to $3.45. BUT WAIT! A coupon for $3.00 is printing for your next purchase...and a surprise coupon prints that is $1.50/3. This is the most expensive purchase of the day. ;)
Purchase #2
Buy 5 at .99 each for a total of $4.95 again. Use a coupon for each box. This time i used that coupon that just printed $1.50/3 and the $.50/2. So our $4.95 subtotal subtracts $2.00 and our final total is $2.95. Use the $3.00 Catalina coupon from the last purchase and Safe way owes you $.05. But they don't give money back-so they will just put the coupon in for $2.95. Because you bought 5 boxes you get yet another $3.00 cat and for some reason another coupon for $1.50/3.
Purchases 3 and more.
Keep doing this until you hit the store limit per person, a line forms behind you or you get embarrassed and decide to hit up another store.
I ended up buying 55 boxes. I spent $2.00 on coupons. And my shopping total was $3.30. Bringing my actual total to $5.50 for 55 boxes. Which is only .10 a box. It would have been less, but i just realized that rang a transaction up wrong, they forgot to take the $3.00 cat off. ah well. .10 a box is nothing when there were originally $2.99 a box!
